Psychic and mediumistic abilities
are not gifts bestowed to the favoured few. They are actually
innate human abilities that may be nurtured and developed by
those who are open to development. Mediumistic development is a
transformative journey of self-discovery that opens a new
eternal reality to all those who develop the ability to
communicate with those who have passed over.
Calgary First Spiritualist Church
offers a proven and supportive path to becoming a medium that
involves a combination of courses, development circles as well
as personal and public practice. You do not need to have
previous training or experience. All that is needed to begin
your journey is an interest in self-development and a commitment
to regular practice. Our Development Program accommodates those
at various points in their spiritual journey, as there are some
who wish to gain greater awareness, while others may wish to
become professional and/or Church mediums. Aspirants who are
unable to attend a regular development program may participate
in our Friday Meditation and Psychic Awareness Group.
Level One: Introduction
At this introductory level,
participants are asked to become familiar with the principles of
Spiritualism and mediumship. Our Church regularly offers weekend
Introductory courses in Spiritualism and Mediumship.
Level Two: Beginner’s Circle
The goals of the Beginner’s Circle are to develop the conditions
necessary to establish communication with the Spirit World.
Activities in the Beginner’s Circle include meditation,
relaxation and using the power of the circle to promote
expansion and greater sensitivity to Spirit energies. Students
in the Beginner’s Circle may also gain a sense of their personal
developmental path whether it is evidential mediumship, psychic
development,
channeling, soul rescue or
sitting for attunement. The Beginner’s Circle meets
for 60 to 90
minutes
on a weekly basis from early September to the end
of May.
Level Three: Intermediate
Development*
In the Intermediate Level, you
will have the opportunity to explore specific skills in working
with Spirit. Depending upon the availability of participants
four types of development opportunities are available. These
include Evidential Mediumship as well as Channeling/Trance
Mediumship, Soul Rescue or Trance Healing.
In the Intermediate Mediumship Circle, students
deepen their connection with Spirit and make contact with
individuals who have passed over. In doing so students develop
the ability to provide evidence for ‘proof of survival’ –
physical features, clothing, names age or health conditions at
time of passing, places etc.
The
Intermediate Circle meets for 60 to 90 minutes on a weekly basis
from early September to the end of May. Circle members may also
participate in periodic platform practice sessions to gain
experience in providing mediumistic communication in a format
similar to Church services.
When there is sufficient interest
and leaders available, the Church also offers monthly Soul
Rescue Circles, Channeling/Trance Mediumship Circles and Trance
Healing.
*Note: Level Three students will
normally be asked to apply for an Associate or Full Church
Membership. Those wishing to become Church mediums will be asked
to complete an Application Form.
Level Four: Advanced Development
Our Advanced Circle is focused on further deepening and
providing clearer and more detailed communication from the
Spirit World. Students in the Advanced Circle are able to
clearly describe the appearance, personality and life of Spirit
communicators.
The Advanced Circle meets for 60 to 90 minutes on
a weekly basis from early September to the end of May. Circle
members participate in monthly platform practice sessions to
gain experience in providing mediumistic communication in a
format similar to Church services.
Upon approval by the Mediumship
Development Committee, Advanced Circle members may provide
mini-readings at Church events and may give messages at special
Wednesday services for developing mediums.
